For the first Christian community,
well liked by everyone,
Jesus was the centre of its life.
When our connection with Jesus
becomes personal and profound,
we start to see the world with His eyes
and His heart becomes ours,
as does His love.
God is love
and we can be a reflection of it
because He now lives within us
and we choose Him with our whole heart
and with all our forces, particularly
when we feel miserable, sinners,
misunderstood or rejected,
or when everyone seems
to forget us.
Jesus loved us first,
up to the cross:
it is the mystery of love defeating evil.
When loved, we can love in our turn.
We kneel down before lone men,
poor, suffering and oppressed,
to love them with the fatherly
and motherly heart of God;
to accompany them, if they wish,
towards their meeting with His love.
«Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.» (1 John 4, 7-11).
