The greatest temptation
that everyone of us may feel
is putting our ego
in the place of God,
forgetting that we are His temple
and that He lives within us.
To completely forget about our ego is the right path
to avoid pride becoming our guide
and to be like Jesus, instead,
gentle and humble-hearted.
We are always looking for the right advice
not to support just our own ideas,
but to spread those of our Lord.
Let the poorest come to us
to maintain our language simple
and avoid arrogance,
to never feel completely achieved.
Let’s never cease watching ourselves,
our weaknesses and our gifts
because we are human and,
even when we try to do all the good we can,
we need to pray and experience silence
so that it is always our Lord
to speak
and act within us.
Anxiety or inner peace
could represent signs
to recognise good or evil,
even within us.
Evil is crouched,
always ready to attack,
while good is just numb.
Only our intelligence can choose it
and only our will can follow it.
We need to deliver ourselves from evil,
which often presents itself as good.
Many temptations can be defeated only escaping,
or fasting, as a sign of freedom,
from pictures, readings or music
that may take us
away from God’s plans.
Let’s defend ourselves from evil
with a never ending prayer.
« My son, if thou come to serve the Lord, prepare thy soul for temptation. Set thy heart aright, and constantly endure, and make not haste in time of trouble. Cleave unto him, and depart not away, that thou mayest be increased at thy last end. Whatsoever is brought upon thee take cheerfully, and be patient when thou art changed to a low estate. For gold is tried in the fire, and acceptable men in the furnace of adversity. Believe in him, and he will help thee; order thy way aright, and trust in him.» (Sirach 2, 1-6)
«And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.» (Matthew 6, 13)
