Sermig (“Servizio Missionario Giovani”, or “Young Missionary Service”) was founded in 1964 by Ernesto Olivero, with the help of a group of people who shared his same dream: defeat hunger with acts of justice and promote development and solidarity towards the poor, with particular attention to young people, with which to work towards peace.
Then, thanks to the commitment of young, married couples, families, monks and nuns, the Brotherhood of Hope was created to help people in these difficult times and introduce them to God.
A new experience begins
because God intended it.
It develops because it is helped,
stimulated, hindered,
loved, prayed.
Sermig belongs
to God
and to everyone
who contributed to lead it
to the path
He marked.
