MELODY MARGOT – CRY WOLF
Warm voice, chiming guitar and nothing else, other than a very light background choir, poetry can often be found with little and it doesn't require huge resources or a lot of noise. Of course, you have to have it inside and know how to bring it out, like this illustrious unknown on this album. Evocative
SHIVAREE – GOODNIGHT MOON
Dark song by this American pop-like group, it reminds me a lot of Chris Isaak's Wicked Game, mainly due to the loser & loner atmosphere that exudes from both songs. The voice is intriguing, even if a little clunky, the bass "tu-tu-tum-tum" always the same throughout the song, I wouldn't bother making important comparisons for a pleasant, but not extraordinary, song. It sticks in your head though
HARRY MANX – DON'T FORGET TO MISS ME (live June 2010)
Harry Manx is one of those very few musicians who, whatever he does, plays. I think he can play even with just a look. Great charisma for an atypical bluesman, who mixes in his records the sacred verb of the blues with the equally sacred Indian music, much older than the blues. Here he limits himself to a fun, fast song, which he characterizes with his unmistakable voice and which he embellishes with an excellent keyboard player, who embroiders with skill. Banjo, keyboard, vocals.
