In the other room

This fresco which is located in the Monastery of the 14th century of Visoki Decani (Ko¬sovo), depicts the episode of the wedding at Cana, (Jn 2, 1-11) with which Jesus begins his public life . Here the banchet ¬ is not represented, which remains implicit (it is represented ¬ on the side wall); we find ourselves as if we were in another room where there are servants and jars to fill, where the bride and groom and guests do not go during the party. Here we find Jesus listening to the Mother's prayer: "They have no more wine".

While she still does not openly formulate her request, he is already moving, he who for love cannot deny her anything. Even the servants, to his confident "do whatever he tells you", make themselves available to the son, fill the jars with water and then draw it and bring it to the table master. "And as he had tasted the water that had become wine, the table master, who did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew it), called the bridegroom and said to him:" Everyone serves wine from the beginning. good and, when they are a bit tipsy, the less good one; you have kept the good wine up to now "».

It is a hidden "sign", which the recipients do not notice. A wedding party without wine would have been not only a fool for the newlyweds and their families but a real disappointment, a ruined party.

Probably someone (besides Ma¬ria) had noticed that the wine was running low, and therefore of the inconvenience that this inconvenience would cause, but none of the diners notices the miracle. Nobody sees it apart from the servants, and in the meantime suddenly that exquisite wine is on the table. In this image we have as a "photo" that speaks to us of how our Lord together with him and our Mother sometimes work in our lives. When we lack the wine - that is the taste of the party, the joy - and there are valid reasons to be worried and saddened, in the Other Room they are already working without our knowledge to surprise us, to give us a joy even bigger.

It is up to us, first of all, well, at least invite them to our home, keep them present and involve them in our more or less important daily "chores" and then allow them to act, to intervene. Then any problem will become a great opportunity.
