New technologies and spirituality

Here is a first fundamental datum of spirituality for new technologies: spirituality of service and, above all, of service to the weakest, to expand the frontiers of service and daily love.

Then there is a second line. It is the spirituality of knowledge that aims at others: the search for good through the information that the computer accumulates; the provision of useful data for the service ...

But there is also the spirituality of meditation: direct and indirect. Direct because it can provide elements of meditation updated and known in real times, contacts with others who are engaged in the perennial search for faith. Indirect because it allows man to use the free time that will inevitably increase, to think, meditate, understand, question life and the world. (...)

A fourth line of spirituality is that of the search for the truth of the world, the discovery and management of the things that surround us.

A fifth line seems to reinforce one of the characteristics of man: his sociability.
In a proactive vision, the computer (and the other telematic and television tools, etc.) are connecting elements; they can be studied and used to bring people and peoples together. (...)

A sixth line is that, already mentioned in part, of accountability: the computer society must move away from the delegation of non-accountability, from guaranteeing at all costs. (...)

A seventh line of spirituality is that of humility because the things we come to know are so many that they scare us, almost, to make us understand how the world is infinitely varied, capable of surprising us and making us find the hand and sign of God in it. .

Finally, as the eighth line, we can indicate that of detachment from things, from the will to power, from the culture of pure "having". In fact, once the essential needs of survival are satisfied, the reasons for the struggle to possess diminish considerably, even if consumerism seems to say the opposite.
