Wait

Christmas time has just passed, for children probably the moment of waiting "by definition". For every Christian, a moment in which we must practice waiting. Finding the motivations and ways to make it a moment in which we grow, we learn to love those who wait and those who are expected.

As a family we encounter an apparently banal fact: how much time we spend waiting for some event or some person, in which perhaps we place enormous expectations, hopes. We expect to be engaged, we await the wedding and then a child. When this gift finally makes itself present in our lives, its growth begins and we therefore learn to wait for everything that is not "chosen": our life as parents and its life as a child are at stake.

Its growth modifies the way we are called to wait: more and more trust is added, we are less called to intervene in their lives and we are challenged to know how to limit ourselves in the desire to help, in becoming aware that difficulties, mistakes and failures make you grow and therefore all these possibilities must be welcomed, accepted and loved. Wait and go further, as Jesus and his parents teach us.
