Hedda and the seagull

Two young directors, Liv Ferracchiati and Leonardo Lidi, confront two theater classics: Ibsen's Hedda Gabler and Chekhov's The Seagull.

Author, director and performer, Ferracchiati proposes not a rewriting, but a new dramaturgy of Ibsen's play. «About Hedda Gabler – says the director – I was struck by two aspects in particular. The first is Hedda's attraction to what is not the norm and her respect for convention. The second is the recklessness of Løvborg and the attempt to rebuild himself morally and dominate himself through the writing of the manuscript. But everyone succumbs to life and not even the visionary work saves them».

The show will debut from 1 to 22 December 2022 at the Piccolo Teatro Studio Melato.

Leonardo Lidi has been able to establish himself on the Italian theater scene with powerful and original versions of great classical authors.

The Seagull - the Russian author's masterpiece entirely focused on the confrontation-clash between generations and on the essence of theater - represents his first meeting with Chekhov.

In this setting Lidi builds a sounding board for the feelings that move the characters in the story: love and its absence, memories, lost illusions, existential unease. The show will be at the Teatro Carignano in Turin from 13 to 18 December and then on tour in Italy.
