Some of the most anticipated shows of the season will be staged in the month of March: The girl on the sofa by Nobel Prize winner Jon Fosse debuts in Turin, directed by Valerio Binasco, the main Italian interpreter of Norwegian author. Always fascinated by Fosse's introspective poetry, Binasco tries his hand at this story which has its narrative fulcrum in a middle-aged woman, intent on painting the portrait of a girl sitting on a sofa. The protagonist fights against doubts about her artistic abilities and the recurring image of that girl who haunts her and who is none other than herself as a young woman. Binasco, supported by a cast of great performers including Pamela Villoresi and Isabella Ferrari, will be at the Teatro Carignano in Turin from 5 to 24 March and then on tour.

Massimo Popolizio continues his artistic and civil research by staging The Hotel of the Poor based on the choral drama by Maksim Gorky. A philosophical and moral reflection on human destiny, an act of denunciation of the living conditions of a part of society that is far from having disappeared, the text retains all its charge of visionary strength and desperate lucidity. The show will be at the Strehler Theater in Milan until March 28th and then in Naples and Bergamo.
