Envies

I wanted to avoid the subject because given the context in which we are living, we probably already talk about it too much, but in fact it makes me want to talk about the Måneskin too. I will omit any musical judgment, but for me – as a former metalhead, who has always been in love with the bass-drums-guitar-voice formation – the four young Romans are a breath of fresh air in the midst of a sea of autotunes. I don't even want to give an aesthetic judgement, even if I believe that those with a similar talent shouldn't feel the need to show other arguments, such as parts of the body that are not the ones needed to play. I find this useless and harmful, both for themselves and for those who look at them (especially the dwarfs) ... In reality it is the social aspect of the question that interests me most: the envy that people feel for them. "Nothing new!". «Things already seen». "Why should I listen to them if Led Zeppelin already exists", "Overrated", "Constructed and vulgar", "Who do they think they are?", "How crazy are they" ... and so on. Obviously everyone can think as she wants, even me. The success of others often highlights our failures and it is this situation that sets our wickedness in motion. It's always easy to speak ill of others and judge them harshly and - sometimes - it almost makes us feel better. My grandfather always said this: «When I was little I had a friend who was really mean to me, at the time I wished many times that he would end up badly. But the happiest day of my life was when, many years later, I saw him become a successful man and I was happy about it». Here is the freedom to which I aspire, because at the end of my life I believe I will be asked for this and not for what I thought of the Måneskin.
