A yes or a no

Two extraordinary interpreters such as Umberto Orsini and Franco Branciaroli find themselves together in Pour un oui ou pour un non directed by Pier Luigi Pizzi, one of the greatest artists of Italian theater; a show for two that pays credit to the comedy by Nathalie Sarraute, one of the most important French writers of the twentieth century.

With Pour un oui ou pour un non, Sarraute gives us a surprising and complex text that focuses on the power of words: two friends meet, after an unmotivated separation, and question each other about the reasons for their separation, discovering that they have been the silences between the words spoken and above all the ambiguities of the "intonations" to deform their relationship, cracking it.

In spite of its simplicity, the title chosen by Sarraute conceals a profound meaning, a careful reflection on how a small detail - a yes or a no, in fact - can radically change the meaning of a conversation, sometimes causing deep lacerations in the heart of those who listens.

The show is on tour in Italy and is staged at the Mercadante in Naples from 8 to 13 February and at the Teatro Carignano in Turin from 9 to 20 March.
