A precious little book celebrates Silvio Novembre. Marshal of the Guardia di Finanza, protagonist with Giorgio Ambrosoli of the investigation into the Sindona crack, between 1974 and 1979. One of the greatest scandals in Italy of scandals.
Ambrosoli was killed on 11 July 1979, in general indifference. Silvio Novembre suffered threats and removal attempts. Almost alone, they revealed the misdeeds of the Sicilian banker in the odor of the mafia.

Guided only by a sense of duty and love for the country. Feelings obsolete since then. They did not give in to flattery, blackmail, corruption. They went all the way, even against the most compromised political power. Ambrosoli paid with his life. November was forever marked by it.
The marshal died in 2019, having spent the last few years bearing witness to that painful and luminous story. In the funeral oration, the commander general of the Guardia di Finanza spoke: "Silvio Novembre was the embodiment of ideals and ethical values, making an all-encompassing and fully absorbing choice, a choice that places being at the center rather than the 'having, the moral dimension at the expense of the material one, the pursuit of a noble, humble and silent mission in spite of the search for personal success. The sense of duty and the spirit of sacrifice, the sense of responsibility and moral rigor, the cult of example and the love for justice and truth. Here, in summary, who was Silvio Novembre!

Here is who was the Marshal of the Guardia di Finanza, courageous and noble protagonist together with Giorgio Ambrosoli, in one of the darkest, most ominous and disturbing events in Italian judicial history ». An honest and respectable man.
He lived all his life in a modest apartment in a Milanese building with a courtyard and concierge, amidst books and photographs, silences and memories. Atmospheres of yesteryear: an interior refinement that has nothing to do with the coarseness of the luxury exhibited, the exorbitant appearance, excess as a lifestyle.
Marshal Novembre is one of the great Italians who, with the strength of their example, have kept this Italy always tempted by moral, economic and political shortcuts.

In the eternal, unsurpassed struggle between the correct and the corrupt. Clash too many times resolved with the defeat of the righteous, or with their physical annihilation, as for Ambrosoli. Silvio Novembre is a victorious righteous.
