Doing things together

A well-kept vegetable garden, with a little lavender marking the spaces, what is special about it?
The beauty that enchants is that whoever holds it so well is a group of people with various disabilities. They don't just do, but show us exactly what they do. «This part Paolo explains it more to you: he likes theory! He knows everything ".
"Here we have grown the carrots that we prepare for lunch."

They make us sit on benches made in the carpentry workshop, during the winter that there is less to do outside. On each table there is a vase with flowers from the garden and the boys serve us breakfast. It is their morning ritual in which they let us in with simplicity as expected guests, as friends. They guide us on a path in which they tell us about their project.
They don't use any chemical fertilizer, just a lot of work and passion. There is the insect house, the ornamental pumpkins, the pond that tries to keep alive the different animal species of the area. The layout of the garden recalls the royal park of Stupinigi: it is really very beautiful! Our friend Paolo, when he learned of our dream of creating a vegetable garden in which to work and train young disabled people in a profession, told us what he does every day with his boys in the Stupinigi pheasant farm. We have the desire to go and see.

Over the years Sermig has grown asking for help, advice and we have learned a lot from these guys. One thing that struck us was the answer to a few questions: «But do you like gardening? No. And are you happy to come here? Yes a lot".
The two things are together: it happens to everyone to do things for which we do not feel particularly suited, but then you do them together with people who, little by little, become friends. Then even the things you do become beautiful.
We invite the group to return the visit and they come to visit us. Of course, our kids still don't know how to tell much about the agricultural part because they don't come to us much, but in the pastry shop they steal the word with the spontaneity that distinguishes them: "Now it's my turn, you've already talked too much". Everyone wants to explain something.
Vincenzo has an idea: to cement this friendship you need to have a nice table, he gives us an appointment for a next meeting.
