Weekdays not trivial
Publish date 06-05-2026
TIME FLIES, THEY SAY. AND IN PART IT IS TRUE. In fact, here we are almost suddenly in a new year of which a few weeks have already been consumed, with the calendar to be browsed more and more quickly. As if time were never enough. In fact, you are on the track, in the days that seem shorter and shorter, surprising yourself not to be able to do everything... while the path of real life must be faced, knowing how to orient oneself and not getting lost in confusion. Perhaps becoming passionate about a daily life that is always precious (despite our distraction). Instead, nothing should be wasted or thrown away. This is the life that is worthwhile, in which every moment is an important (and unrepeatable) opportunity to take steps forward, together, in the right direction, within a "we" that gives confidence if you take it in charge. And then we cannot take everything for granted in the calendar that flows. We are not only grappling with the unexpected. Of course, we cannot predict what will happen, but there is a rhythm of life that inevitably takes and can also stress or fatigue – due to the commitments to be carried out, the road to be shared – but it must be taken into account that this composes, step by step, existence, in the time that is given. A time that challenges, in which to take steps forward and not swerve. Weekdays are not trivial. It contains a value without discounts, because it is imbued with true, authentic, concrete things – spread over life relationships in the family, at school, at work, on the road – with encouraging moments and others less so. And who knows if we can carve out moments of silence with ourselves, perhaps making room for a prayer that enlightens, consoles, gives strength?
THE TIME OF LIFE LEAVES A PAST AROUND THE CORNER and lands towards an unprecedented that lies beyond. With the big question: what's left? Yes, it is important, over time, to give life to what does not pass and remains. Friendship, for example, which needs its time. In fact, there is a need to listen to each other, to give each other a hand, to confront and deepen, together.
AND LET'S ALSO THINK OF THE FAMILY REALITY, in which time is precious to cement bonds, to understand each other better, to find the right balance for well-known needs, patiently cultivating urgencies not to be left to chance. In short, time must be looked a little in the face (not as you do with the clock), to make it an opportunity for ever new encounters to be shared, bringing together and intertwining the generations that find themselves within the walls of the home.
AND, IN CLOSING, A THOUGHT CANNOT FAIL TO GO TO THOSE WHO LIVE THEIR TIME IN SOLITUDE, perhaps with many years to manage. With the gaze that shortens as it leans forward. May they be days and nights in which we do not lose hope, in which believers, humbly but convincingly, can offer a glimpse beyond time, in the light they await from the Risen One, the Living One. Beyond all our wandering.
