A song can help convey positive and inclusive messages, even on the topic of mental health, countering stigma and prejudice. With this in mind, Risuoniamo was conceived, a music contest that seeks to identify artists and bands in high schools and universities in Turin and the rest of Piedmont who have addressed issues such as mental well-being, psychological distress, fragility and social marginalisation linked to mental health in their original songs, as well as stories of social inclusion and overcoming fears and prejudices.

The competition, aimed at young people aged between 14 and 25 living in the region, is promoted by Il Bandolo, a social organisation founded in 2004 from the experience of various structures involved in the field of mental health in Piedmont, to support processes and mechanisms for the protection of people “in the full exercise of their rights as citizens, to raise awareness in the community through educational, informational and cultural activities”. . With the fundamental support of the Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo, Risuoniamo has become an aggregator of artistic and musical creativity with social aims, where song is still one of the most direct and emotionally engaging and contagious forms of expression for conveying human values, life stories and good practices. 'For our part, we promote the protection of the rights of people with mental health issues and their families,' explain Il Bandolo, 'through actions that influence decisions, practices and policies to protect fundamental rights. We contribute to the protection and promotion of mental health through the construction of inclusive and collaborative local networks that generate change in individuals and communities because we believe that only through the exchange of different points of view can we act for strong and collective change."
