Let's build kindness

“Let's build kindness” is a movement that involves Italy from north to south, from Puglia to Piedmont, passing through Campania and many other regions. Its president, Luca Nardi from Ivrea (a teacher of physical education), explains: «It is a project that has a deadline, March 21, 2036, coordinated by the social promotion association Cor et amor, founded in Ivrea. Our members are “ambassadors of kindness”, who are committed to making kind practices a widespread habit and are councilors, teachers, coaches, doctors, entrepreneurs and volunteers who work in their territory for the common good».

Last year we met – thanks to a special friend – Anna Vitiello, a woman from Torre Annunziata who could be given many definitions: mother, former municipal administrator, hospital volunteer in the field of clown therapy, but above all “ambassador of kindness”. Her story touched us and we invited her to come and visit us in Turin, at the Arsenale della Pace; she came a few weeks ago together with the president of the association Luca Nardi and the vice president Arcangela De Vivo, a pediatrician from San Severo, who for decades has combined her profession with service in the solidarity organizations of her area. It was a special meeting, an exchange that opened up new ideas and possibilities. What made it even stronger is that this year San Severo (Arcangela's town) together with Torre Annunziata (Anna's town) are "capitals of kindness", where a few days ago the annual festival took place, on the occasion of which they wrote: "Our territories need good news to restore hope and confidence in young people to continue living in the territories where they grew up. Kindness and kind practices can be a great opportunity to bring out the beauty that is there and spread knowledge of it". Every meeting can be an opportunity and everyone's mission can be enriched. Anna told us, crossing the threshold of the Arsenale: "Today kindness meets peace". A beautiful definition that smacks of prophecy embodied in the concrete life of those who, every day, continue to believe that a new world is possible, starting with us.
