It's my turn
Publish date 09-02-2026

How far does my ability to change things extend? When our children are very young, the answer is obvious: everywhere! We learn firsthand how strong their desire is for things to be different from how they are. In their eyes, it's us parents who must ensure that these desires become practical reality. They are the mind, we are the force. They are excellent at making us understand how important it is for us to move in the direction of their dreams! However, as they reach adolescence, the tone changes radically: our children become almost overly aware and bothered by the limitations of their actions: "What can I do to change things? ... I know I can't do anything! ... Can I do more than protest?" They are convinced that the ability to change reality is in someone else's hands and—at most—their freedom is measured in attempting to influence the actions of others with good reasoning, while waiting to take their place in the control room themselves. As a certain politician unfortunately said, hoping that an "elder" in charge will voluntarily make room is pure utopia. Perhaps we can become more aware that revolutions happen if, from an early age, we commit to changing the things around us, starting with our actions and behavior, with our "it's my turn."
