Francis has launched a strong appeal to defeat the pandemic: "Vaccinating against Covid is an act of love", everyone must collaborate, no ifs and buts, leaving aside hesitation and exploitation. From Casa Santa Marta in the Vatican on August 18 came a warning from the Pope (pronounced in Spanish) spread all over the world, a video in which he appeals to everyone's conscience, hoping for a responsible attitude to overcome the epidemic together: "Getting vaccinated is a simple way to promote the common good and take care of each other, especially the most vulnerable." And the drug must be absolutely "available to everyone", strongly invokes Jorge Mario Bergoglio. The Bishop of Rome has chosen to participate in the It's up to you initiative, born in the United States against disinformation on the effects of anti-coronavirus antidotes and to convince undecided and fearful the fundamental role of vaccines.

Addressing ideally to all peoples of the planet, starting with Latin America, the Pontiff highlights that «thanks be to God and the work of many today we have vaccines to protect us from Covid-19. These give the hope of putting an end to the pandemic but only if they are available to everyone and if we collaborate with each other ". Looking with "hope in a brighter future", Bergoglio states: "Getting vaccinated, with vaccines authorized by the competent authorities, is an act of love. And helping to get most people vaccinated is an act of love. " In all forms: love for "oneself, for family and friends, for all peoples". The Argentine Pope - citing his last two "green" and social encyclicals Laudato si 'e Fratelli tutti - underlines that «love is also social and political, there it is social love and political love, it is universal, always overflowing with small gestures of personal charity capable of transforming and improving societies ”. Everyone can, with vaccination, cooperate for a better future, and so the Pontiff asks “God that everyone can contribute with his little grain of sand, his little gesture of love. However small it is, love is always great ». Each and every one is called to help humanity "with these little gestures".
