The appointment with Prato inglese. Sere d’estate al Teatro Carignano is back, the summer proposal of the Teatro Stabile di Torino – Teatro Nazionale which from 18 June to 14 July 2024 renews the appointment with the initiative dedicated to the great Shakespearean classics.
This year a diptych directed by Filippo Dini will be staged, focused on one of the most famous love stories of all time, Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, combined with the show After Juliet by Sharman Macdonald which tells a hypothetical sequel to the Shakespearean tragedy, a modern fable that speaks of love and hate, of hope and redemption. The diptych tells of the end of everything we can relate to youth: «it is not about – declares the director – killing the child inside us, but about facing the death of the younger generations, the massacre from a media point of view. The new generations are being killed by social media, by eco-anxiety, they are already marked from birth by the sense of the end, the end of our planet". On stage the young actors graduated from the School for Actors of the Stabile of Turin. The two shows will then be repeated in the splendid setting of the Roman Theater of Verona, on July 17 and 18, as part of the Estate Teatrale Veronese.
