2025 steps of peace

Sami dreams of one day running faster than Flash, Sirin wishes for a kind family full of love, Malak asks the adults if, as a gift for his birthday, they can stop making war. 2025 Passi di pace is the march with which Sermig, last December 29, said goodbye to the old year to welcome the new one, filling the streets of Turin with the dreams and desires of the little ones, because as Ernesto Olivero wrote, "the light shines brighter when the night is dark". Precisely in a time in which war seems closer than peace, we need to not give up and imagine a different future for which each of us has the opportunity to commit, making the world we live in a slightly kinder place.

Together with the children and young people of the multi-ethnic neighborhoods of Aurora and Barriera di Milano, accompanied by their families, almost 350 young people from all over Italy walked, sang, danced and remained silent at the Arsenale della Pace, called to make a difference in the lives of others to awaken the minds and hearts of the communities and cities in which they live.
It was a day of celebration in which to breathe all the air possible and fill our hearts with hope, without wanting to forget anyone, especially those who have to deal with the wickedness of war every day of their lives. Reminding us of how lucky we are, how beautiful it is to be together with others, how each of us can truly change and make things change around us. Because as Amina said, "the fear of not being able to fulfill my dreams is great, but I also know that if you want something with all your heart, it comes true".

Today's march is an opportunity to start from the dreams and desires of children and young people.
Many have told us that they no longer want to hear the news on TV because there are too many wars and tragedies. Their anguish and fear for tomorrow is increasing.
We thought we would offer them a concrete signal to continue together on a path of peace and trust. Of course, we will not stop all the wars in the world, but - with daily commitment to others - we can educate our consciences so that all the choices that depend on us are choices of peace. Every day, with our decisions, we can renew our yes to peace, hope and goodness.
